Results of rainfall data acquisition and prediction
After the International RainGain workshop on “radar technology, calibration and rainfall estimation”, held in Leuven on 16th April 2012, a review document was produced on methods and experiences in radar‑based fine scale rainfall estimation. This document provides an overview of the state-of-the-art of radar‑based rainfall estimation, including methods for merging with rain gauge and disdrometer data and methods for integration of coarse and fine-scale rainfall products and downscaling to obtain fine-scale rainfall estimates. This document served as a reference for the fine scale rainfall estimation (WP2) based on the high resolution radar data obtained in the RainGain project for the pilot sites (WP1). Note that “fine scale” refers here to the spatial and temporal scales required for urban hydrological applications. Click here to access this document.
